Our History

A native of Charlotte, NC, and a mechanical engineering graduate of North Carolina State University, Budd Hipp received his professional engineering license in 1991. In his early career, Budd worked for a Fortune 100 company, supporting construction design of industrial piping systems for fossil fuel power plants. He then took on the role of manufacturing engineer for a microelectronics firm. In his next step, Budd joined the design firm ranks, working first as a mechanical design engineer specializing in HVAC systems for commercial telecommunication and health care facilities. Later, as a project lead working on projects for manufacturing, medical, and research and development facilities, his design efforts focused on clean industries (pharmaceutical and biotechnology).

Hipp Engineering & Consulting, Inc. was founded by Budd in 2001, and a second office was opened in Augusta, GA, in 2012 to serve a growing market for specialized engineering services there. Under his leadership, HIPP has steadily grown in size and capabilities, and has received numerous awards and recognition.
